North To Cocoa

Waiting for the storm to abate. Already the water is only half its depth ten minutes before!

My departure from Homestead on Sunday morning was delayed by a deluge that left the motel car park awash with water 20 mm deep. This downpour and its attendant electrical storm had come just as I was finishing my morning swim in the motel's swimming pool.

Leaving at about 9 am I drove via freeway / tollway to Cocoa, using my car's GPS to guide me through Miami's maze of spaghetti-like roads.

Dozens of squirrels were a delight as I ate lunch at a park-like roadside rest area!

There are not many lay-bys for drivers to take a rest in Florida (indeed, many roads have signs expressly prohibiting stopping), but I did use one to eat lunch and photograph squirrels.
