Scott Parazynski

Astronaut Scott Parazynski gives a talk at the Visitors Complex.

Back at the Visitor Complex, to my utter delight, I discovered that Scott Parazynski was to be today's featured astronaut. His fascinating 4 pm talk included details of his 2009 ascent of Mount Everest with a piece of moon rock and how both that moon rock and a rock sample from the summit of Everest now reside on the International Space Station.

At the conclusion of the talk I renewed my acquaintance with him. In astonishment he exclaimed what a small world it is, and said that he had been re-invited back "down" to Australia by a mutual aquantance to give more talks.

It was only later that I realised I had just met my second conqueror of Mount Everest. The first had been Ed Hillary at the 1958 International Scout Jamboree.

I renew my aquaitance with Scott Parazynski.
