Final Flight

When we took off again two hours later the fog was still limiting visibility to 1500 metres.

As we flew across New South Wales we could see patchy fog, particularly in the valleys. Part of Canberra was foggy, but over the hill I could clearly make out all of the white dishes of the Canberra Deep Space Network tracking station at Tidbinbilla. The access roads that I have many times driven alomg to get to the tracking dish were clearly traceable.

The Hume Lake and Dam were hidden in fog, but Lake Eildon was clearly visible as we descended toward Tullamarine.

The landing was markedly rougher than in Sydney, but, at 9:40 am, was on-time. Pretty amazing, I thought, to go all the way to Florida and arrive back within a minute of the scheduled time!!
